Resumen

African American adults in the United States have the highest prevalence of high blood pressure and heart failure in the world. Those with treatment-resistant hypertension have higher levels of the enzyme xanthine oxidase than white patients. This single-arm Phase 2 study evaluates whether allopurinol improves heart (diastolic) function in African Americans with resistant hypertension.
